If you need to stay overnight I recommend the OYO Anchor Guest House https://www.oyorooms.com/ in Golders Green (a very quick bus ride), or La Gaffe (great Italian restaurant and they play chess!) on Heath Street - http://www.lagaffe.co.uk/.
The Best Western and Holiday Inn in Swiss Cottage are 20 minutes walk away or a very short 46/603 bus ride, at the bottom of Fitzjohn's Avenue.
There is a Travelodge in Cricklewood which is easily reached by bus - get the 268 bus from opposite Hampstead Underground Station to Golders Green, and then get the 460 bus which stops right outside the hotel.
King’s College London has rooms for £60 a night in Kidderpore Avenue a 20-minute walk from the Hampstead venue, available to let to visitors during the summer months, from June 28th to September 9th.
A hostel in Swiss Cottage, a walk up hill to the venue, has been recommended to me - Palmers Lodge. This is a luxurious place for a hostel and you can reserve single rooms as well as rooms in the dorms, which are obviously cheaper!
I recommend looking at a site like laterooms.com and search by area or postcode for deals on accommodation in NW3 (Hampstead) or NW11 (Golders Green), or Swiss Cottage (NW3) or West Hampstead (NW6).
Another way to find a place to stay is to register on the popular English Chess Forum, and post a message like this on the 'General Chat' board, or somewhere suitable (perhaps on a thread about the event you are attending).
